Being able to relate to various social communities, Jessica reaches a wide range of diversity which allows her to be able to help any community and environment.
Jessica is committed to ensuring students have exposure to different cultures, mindsets, personalities, areas of interest and opening up mindsets to explore different career fields.
Born in Columbus, Ohio into a military family, Jessica was raised in Raliegh, NC by her great grandmother and cousins while her mother was in The United States Army. When her mom returned from duty, Jessica moved to Columbus,OH and began a new journey.
This journey shaped the rest of her life. Being reunited with her dad was supposed to be a happy occasion, but it began a journey of terrible emotional and physical abuse. Without being able to express herself with words, she used art as her outlet to express her feelings and emotions.
Her teachers and classmates became fans and entered her in various contests where she gained a confidence not only in the arts but a place she felt she "belonged". At the time, art was the only thing that gave her confidence. Jessica’s confidence was severely decreased through the abuse she experienced at home. By the age of 18, the physical and other forms of abuse had stopped because of leaving for college to Wright State University. After having to take an emergency leave from Wright State University ,Jessica began working two jobs to help her mom and sister during a huge life transition. One day while working Jessica began doodling at her work station.
Co-workers crowded around loving her work and demanded she go to art college. That experience gave her the belief to push and try harder. She created a portfolio with no formal training to submit to CCAD. In 2006, Jessica was accepted into CCAD.(Columbus College of Art & Design) While in college she worked two-three jobs while going to school full time.
She interned at a design firm located in Columbus,OH called Zengenius. This internship gave her the experience and helped build relationships with well known corporations such as Bath & Body Works, Victoria Secret and more. worked at a before and after school program called Family Focus learning center at Great Western Academy & Columbus Urban League.
Although art was her passion, she found true joy in helping others succeed not only through art & academics but helping students to navigate different life circumstances. Jessica graduated May 15, 2010 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts majoring in Fashion Design starting her first corporate position at Express shortly after.
Jessica continued to design for Victoria Secret, LaSenza & Justice. She later expanded her resume by becoming a celebrity stylist and assistant for TV Bravo Reality Star “Lisa Nicole” from the hit tv show Married to Medicine. Never wanting to settle, Jessica has learned from various situations in her life. From her childhood experiences, environments, corporate america and life in general.
With this knowledge of technical skills and personal development, she is committed to the growth of people in every aspect. As Jessica continues to learn and grow in every way, she wants to take what she has learned to impact the next generation. By giving students various tools to tackle life, it can help them to be successful in many areas of their life. Jessica wants to provide skills that perhaps students were not taught or ever thought about.
